HEMMA Gone Wild – twisted sequel in Milan

Last year, the Swedish initiative HEMMA – Stories from Home received much acclaim at the Milan Furniture Week. The exhibition, which was shown in a space in the Brera design area, brought together some of Sweden’s leading designers and companies in a holistic depiction by design studio Joyn. And here comes the sequel. Under the title HEMMA Gone Wild, around 20 companies are taking part, from large producers like Blå Station, Bolon and EFG, to smaller projects like Lisa Hilland’s new brand Mylhta, Vandra Rugs and students from HDK, Beckmans and from the design award Ung Svensk Form.

The Illusionists

Despite the fact that it hasn’t even been Masquespacio’s home for a month, I am met with the same breathtaking space that is so characteristic of the studio’s projects. The size of the facade makes the interior volume feel like an illusion – its walls and ceilings spanning domes of space, colour and light.

In the new issue of Form, Bo Madestrand draws a timeline of the technology developed within the history of bronze processing. Historically, the bronze was the base for weapons such as shields and swords, before it eventually reformed into art such as the heroic statues of Gustav II Adolf and Gustav Vasa made of molten bronze from canons.
