Brf Viva is this year’s winner of Kasper Salin Prize for the best building of 2019. The project was awarded at Arkitekturgalan in Stockholm earlier this week. The climate smart house is located in Guldheden in Gothenburg and was commissioned by Riksbyggen. The architects behind Brf Viva are Malmström Edström Arkitekter Ingenjörer, responsible architects are SAR/MSA Andreas Norrman and Christer Malmström. The house is made of a new type of concrete that is more sustainable for the environment and is built in a hill on rocks.
Variation in space and light and the fact that they were able to build on ground that was earlier rejected, were some of the reasons that the jury presented. The prestigious prize is awarded annually since 1962 by Architects Sweden.
